About CompareTexts
CompareTexts is a privacy-first diff tool designed to help anyone understand what changed between two pieces of text. The app runs entirely in your browser, so your content never leaves your device unless you choose to share it.
Why we built it
We needed a fast, reliable way to compare drafts, product requirements, and release notes without copying files into heavy tooling. CompareTexts focuses on clarity: side-by-side highlights, quick export options, and shareable URLs that preserve your inputs.
What's included
- Clean side-by-side diffs with inline highlights.
- One-click sharing through the URL hash or export helpers.
- Optional email workflow for quick team reviews.
- Accessibility-minded design with keyboard support and high-contrast themes.
- Local comparisons for lists, PDF wording, Markdown, images, ZIP archives and folders.
Choose a comparison workflow
Start with our text comparison guide for a worked example and an explanation of line counts. Use Compare Lists when order does not matter, or Compare PDF Text to review document wording.
Comparison inputs are processed on your device. Shareable links contain the comparison, so keep those links private. The site loads assets and usage analytics; see our privacy policy for details.
Roadmap
We're exploring richer ignore options, syntax-aware highlighting, and collaboration-friendly features. If you have ideas, we'd love to hear them—drop a note through the Feedback page.
